After Will's death, Louisa promised him she will move on, she will live her life fully, because that's what Will was good at -before the wheelchair- he was good at living, always on the top, at the fullest of emotions. She promised him she would fill the eagerness for life that he saw was bursting in her. But how can you move on after losing the person you love? How can you look at the future ahead?
Lou feels lost, travelling and moving from Stortfold to London didn't make her move forward. She still stuck in the past not knowing what she wants, without a purpose, Will left her her with no guide. When an accidents happen she is forced to return home to recover. Her body heals, but Lou knows that she needs to be kick-started back to life. Which is why she agrees to join the Moving On support group, that will lead her to meet Sam - a paramedic, someone who is used to pick up pieces of people from the ground, literally, and might be the one man who can understand her.
Then Will still seems to have left some surprises for Lou, that are gonna turn her life upside down.
I had this book on hold for two months, I just couldn't read it immediately I was still a wreck after the first one, I needed a break after the emotional rollercoaster that reading Me Before You was; and as I imagine I would be, I'm again crying like a baby. Damn it Jojo Moyes!
The writing is flawless and beautiful, It's never boring reading about Lou thoughts, she is such a wonderful and complete character, so real and relatable. All of Jojo Moyes's characters are full and psychologically well described, you get a whole idea of each unique personality; she is really good at creating them, giving a real feel. Every characters in the book has a change or had a growth of some kind, they all do sprout beautifully.
Some new figures are introduced, I loved Sam, who wouldn't, he is a dream man. Another one was Lily, can't say I liked her she is felt like an obnoxious, self-centred teenager, I couldn't be moved to pity her, she is a girl who looks for trouble and gets what she looks for.
Lou grief for Will is well elaborate, she understands that there is no on/off switch for it, but you are always going to miss the people you loved that left you, that doesn't mean you can't move on.
"..It's like you become.... a doughnut instead of a bun"
You are still good, you are be able to live, been someone different, cus losing them did change you. Moving on doesn't mean forgetting.
This book is the a perfect sequel, I loved the first book more, but this one still is a great book, it will make you cry but also laugh with incredible irony and sarcasm.
It's a new beginning for Lou, because that's in the end what life is about, a series of stops and new start.
Life goes on until it doesn't, we better live what we are given to the fullest!
